PFK Electronics Pty Ltd has scooped a top award at the Technology Top 100 (TT100) awards ceremony held at the University of Johannesburg on Thursday 21st February.Durban based PFK Electronics was established in 1985 and is more commonly known for their dominant range of "AUTOWATCH" aftermarket vehicle security systems. PFK currently exports more than 65 % of its production to overseas markets in various countries such as the UK, USA, Russia, Canada, Sweden, Australia and Central Africa. PFK's phenomenal growth is based on successfully capturing new markets with their innovation in GSM and GSM/GPS based vehicle tracking systems, Alcohol breathalyzer based immobilisers and Forecourt Dealer Alarm Systems.
The TT100 programme is focused on identifying true South African business role models who through innovation, tenacity and passionate belief in people, have been able to take their organisation to new levels of competitiveness and sustainabililty. the TT100 is recognized as one of the most prestigious business awards in South Africa with approximately 300 top businesses participating on an annual basis. PFK won the award for "Excellence in the management of systems" and according to Gary Stanton the MD of PFK, "This is awarded for businesses that spend quality time upfront, debating the merits of new processes, products and systems, before making an investment. The culture that pervades the organisation is one of constructive engagement and recognition that every person in the organisation, irrespective of position, has an important contribution to make. These organisations are better prepared to solve problems in a more elegant way and find that they have fewer fall outs due to knee-jerk decision making".
PFK Electronics was also a finalist in the category "Excellence in the management of technology". This category focuses on those businesses that excel in the improvement of quality and productivity, higher flexibility, cost leadership and new market development.
